‘Going to beat the…’: Trump vows to ‘hit Iran hard’ after missile attack on US bases in Jordan

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday vowed a strong military response after Iran launched ballistic missiles targeting US bases in Jordan, warning Tehran that it would face severe consequences.

“We’re going to beat the f—— s— out of them,” Trump told Fox News. “We’ll be hitting them hard. They’re going to get a beating.”

Trump said US forces intercepted the incoming missiles within minutes of the surprise attack, preventing them from reaching their targets. He added that he watched live footage of US personnel tracking and intercepting the missiles in real time.

The attack was claimed by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which said its Aerospace Force launched several ballistic missiles at Jordan’s Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, a key US military facility hosting Central Command operations. Iranian state media said the strike was retaliation for what Tehran described as US aggression.

Jordan’s military said it intercepted and destroyed five Iranian missiles, with no casualties or damage reported.

In response, the US and Saudi Arabia carried out coordinated precision strikes on Iran-backed militia positions in Iraq. According to reports, at least four IRGC military advisers and more than 20 fighters were killed in the overnight operation.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the strikes targeted logistics and weapons sites used by Iran-aligned groups responsible for more than 30 drone attacks against US forces and Saudi energy infrastructure over the previous 72 hours. CENTCOM said Iran’s missile attack had failed and warned Tehran and its proxies to halt further attacks or face additional military action.

Iran condemned the US-Saudi strikes as a violation of Iraq’s sovereignty and international law, accusing Washington and Riyadh of targeting official Iraqi institutions and facilities linked to Arbaeen pilgrims. Tehran also expressed solidarity with Iraq and offered condolences for those killed.

Meanwhile, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an umbrella group of Iran-backed militias, warned that retaliation against the US was “inevitable” and could also target American interests in Saudi Arabia.

Iran later launched another barrage of missiles at US forces across West Asia, further escalating tensions. The latest exchange has intensified fears of a wider regional conflict and raised concerns over the strain on US stockpiles of advanced weapons needed to defend its forces and allies.

The renewed hostilities have also derailed recent diplomatic efforts, with hopes of reviving US-Iran negotiations fading after the collapse of an interim agreement and renewed fighting in the Strait of Hormuz.
