Shilpa Shinde Unfazed by Backlash, Says ‘Jo Ukhadna Hai Ukhad Lo’ Amid Controversy
Television actor Shilpa Shinde has continued to defend herself amid mounting criticism over her admission that she levelled sexual harassment allegations against Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain producer Sanjay Kohli as part of a strategy to exit the show.
Facing backlash on social media, Shilpa shared a cryptic message on Instagram on Saturday, appearing unfazed by the controversy.
In a reel featuring photos and videos of herself, she wrote: “Be a woman! Always ready to say ‘jo ukhadna hai ukhad lo’ (do whatever you want).” In the caption, she added, “Jalne walo jalte raho… (Those who are jealous, keep burning in jealousy).”
In another post, the actor appeared to address the criticism directly, lip-syncing to a line that read: “Sab saaf bolne ke chakkar mein zindagi se aadhey log saaf ho gaye” (Because I speak the truth, I have lost half the people in my life).
AICWA Condemns Remarks
The controversy intensified after the All Indian Cine Workers Association issued a statement condemning Shilpa’s remarks and urged Devendra Fadnavis to take note of the matter.
Calling the issue a serious concern for the entertainment industry, AICWA said that knowingly making false allegations harms both the accused and genuine survivors of harassment.
“If a person knowingly makes false allegations, it not only harms the accused but also undermines the credibility of genuine victims who come forward seeking justice,” the association said, adding that such incidents can make it harder for real survivors to be heard and believed.
Background of the Dispute
In 2016, Shilpa exited the popular TV sitcom Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain after publicly accusing the show’s producers of harassment, non-payment of dues and creating a hostile work environment. The dispute was eventually settled.
Reflecting on the episode recently, Shilpa said friends had questioned her decision at the time, but she felt she had no alternative route to leave the show and resolve the situation.
Nearly a decade later, in 2025, Shilpa returned to Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain. She has said her comeback was influenced by the show’s writer and that she now shares a cordial relationship with the cast and production team.
