Big Nude Boat: Experience the World’s Largest Clothing-Optional Cruise

Luxury cruises are evolving beyond fine dining, casinos, and infinity pools—now they’re also about freedom of choice. Since 1990, US-based travel company Bare Necessities has been pioneering clothing-optional cruises, with its flagship voyage, the Big Nude Boat, becoming the world’s largest nude cruise. These trips promote body positivity, respect, and community, offering travelers a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

Aboard the Norwegian Pearl, a 2,300-passenger ship, guests embark on an 11-day Caribbean itinerary, including the ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao), Jamaica’s natural beauty, and two exclusive stops at Great Stirrup Cay, Norwegian Cruise Line’s private island, where nude travelers can enjoy the beach uninterrupted.

Where nudity is allowed—and not allowed

While nudity is central, passengers must remain clothed in the dining hall, at the captain’s reception, live performances, and during port visits. Bathrobes, lingerie, or fetish outfits are prohibited, though the buffet area has slightly relaxed rules. Strict “no-photo zones” exist in sensitive areas like pools and dance halls, and inappropriate behavior results in immediate disembarkation without refund.

Bare Necessities emphasizes that social nudity is not sexual, stating: “Sexuality is not a state of undress, but a state of mind. We strive to dispel the misconception that nudity is anything but natural and beautiful.”

Price and future voyages

Luxury comes at a cost. According to the New York Post, fares can reach ₹43 lakh (USD 52,000) depending on the cabin. Despite this, thousands, including many repeat guests, sign up annually for the freedom to sunbathe, snorkel, kayak, or zipline in complete nudity.

The company is already planning Big Nude Boat 2026, promising 11 days of “bare-adise”, where the only real choice is how to spend your day—clothes optional.
