Sensex rises 500 points, Nifty near 24,500; Asian Paints, Adani Ports top gainers
The Nifty50 and the Sensex were trading at day’s high as ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank shares supported. Asian equities rose, amid rising hopes that the US and Iran may reach a resolution before the ceasefire deadline expires, which also supported Indian equities.
The Nifty50 was trading 0.73 per cent or 179 points higher at 24,543.3, and the Sensex was trading 0.83 per cent or 655.2 points higher at 79,175.76.
Asian Paints, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone, and Trent were the top gainers in the Nifty50 index.
Broader markets outperformed benchmark indices. The Nifty MidCap and the Nifty SmallCap were trading 0.77 per cent and 1.14 per cent higher, respectively.
Sector-wise, the Nifty Realty, the Nifty PSU Bank, and the Nifty Private Bank outperformed. Meanwhile, the Nifty Pharma underperformed.
However, tensions between the US and Iran increased as the latter’s parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said they don’t support negotiations under threats in a post on X. They are also prepared to reveal new cards on the battlefield.
Before his statement, US President Donald Trump threatened that a lot of bombs would start going off if no agreement is reached before the ceasefire deadline expires, later today.

IPO Today
Citius Transnet InvIT’s initial public offer will enter its final day of subscription. The company aims to raise ₹1,105 crore from the primary market. The IPO was subscribed 1.3 times on the second day.
Similarly, Mehul Telecom IPO will also enter the final day of subscription. It’s a book-build issue worth ₹27.73 crore. The issue was subscribed 9.91 times.
