Iran claims strikes on US military bases in Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait: State media

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claimed on Monday that they launched missile and drone strikes targeting US military facilities in Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait, according to Iranian state media.

State news agency IRNA reported that the attacks targeted Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan, a US military drone command centre in Bahrain, and several air bases, including Ali Al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait.

Following the reported attacks, Bahrain activated missile warning sirens for the second time on Monday, with authorities urging residents to remain calm and immediately seek shelter.

“The siren has been sounded… citizens and residents are urged to remain calm and head to the nearest safe place,” Bahrain’s Interior Ministry said in a post on X.

The strikes came a day after Iran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and launched missiles and drones towards Gulf countries following a fresh round of US strikes, marking a sharp escalation in the regional conflict.

The latest flare-up follows another reported Iranian attack on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, forcing its crew to abandon the ship after it caught fire.

The renewed violence has further weakened diplomatic efforts to revive an interim agreement between Washington and Tehran aimed at ending the conflict, which intensified after US-Israeli strikes reportedly killed Iran’s supreme leader. Efforts by international mediators to restore a ceasefire have continued after US President Donald Trump declared the truce had collapsed.
