Uttarakhand CM assures Rishabh Pant after land plea: ‘You are the pride of Devbhoomi’

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday assured India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant that authorities would look into his request for help with land acquisition in the state.

Pant, 28, took to social media early Saturday morning to say he wanted to shift his base from Delhi to his native Uttarakhand but had struggled for the past three years to find a suitable piece of land large enough for a home.

Responding to Pant, Dhami called him the “pride of Uttarakhand” and said officials had been instructed to address the matter. He added that the concerned authorities would contact Pant and provide all possible assistance in accordance with the rules.

“Dear Rishabh, you are the pride of Uttarakhand. With your splendid performance and achievements, you have illuminated the name of Devbhoomi in the country and the world,” Dhami said in a post on X.

He added that Pant’s desire to return to his roots and contribute to the development of his home state was “highly commendable”.

Pant seeks help to acquire land

Pant had earlier appealed to Dhami for assistance in the land acquisition process, saying he wanted to reconnect with his roots and contribute to Uttarakhand.

“I have been trying to buy land to shift my base from Delhi to Uttarakhand,” Pant wrote, adding that he had been unable to find a suitable and sufficiently large property.

He said he wanted to return to his “Pahadi people” and help build and contribute to the state.

Pant was born in Roorkee in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar district and began his cricket journey in the state before moving to Delhi to pursue the sport professionally. He has represented Delhi throughout his domestic cricket career.

The wicketkeeper-batter was recently reported to have been Uttarakhand’s highest individual taxpayer for the 2025-26 financial year, paying ₹23.84 crore in income tax.

Pant is currently in Sri Lanka with the Indian team ahead of the upcoming two-Test series, which begins on August 15.

In the IPL, Pant was recently traded by Lucknow Super Giants and is set to return to Delhi Capitals for the 2027 season.
