Sensex off lows, up 100 pts; Nifty above 24,550; Nifty IT rises 1%

The benchmark indices, Nifty50 and the Sensex, rose slightly amid uncertainty over a deal between the US and Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz.

As of 10:00 AM, the Nifty50 fell 40.25 points or 0.16 per cent to 24,530.40 and the Sensex was down 125.22 points or 0.16 per cent at 78,373.95.

Titan Company, Tech Mahindra, and ICICI Bank were the top gainers in the Nifty50 index.

In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap and the Nifty SmallCap were up 0.45 per cent and 0.19 per cent higher, respectively.

Sector-wise, the Nifty Private Bank, the Nifty Auto, and the Nifty IT outperformed, while the Nifty PSU Bank underperformed.
