Deepika Sehrawat Hits Record 8 Goals As India Women Crush Uzbekistan 19-0 At Asian Games

Deepika Sehrawat produced a record-breaking performance as India’s women’s hockey team opened their 2026 Asian Games campaign with a commanding 19-0 win over Uzbekistan.

Deepika scored eight goals, the most by a women’s hockey player in a single match in Asian Games history. She was particularly effective from penalty corners, repeatedly beating the Uzbekistan defence with powerful and accurate drag-flicks.

She found the net in the 8th, 22nd, 25th, 33rd, 36th, 38th, 41st and 54th minutes, with most of her goals coming from penalty corners.

Deepika Dominates From Penalty Corners

India repeatedly earned penalty corners, and Deepika made the most of the opportunities. Her power, accuracy and consistency from the set pieces left Uzbekistan struggling to contain her.

The Indian attack maintained pressure throughout the contest, while Uzbekistan found little opportunity to settle into the game.

India scored regularly across all four quarters, underlining their dominance from the opening whistle.

Apart from Deepika’s eight-goal haul, Ishika also completed a hat-trick as India produced one of their biggest wins in Asian Games history.

India Miss 22-0 Asian Games Record

India’s 19-0 victory is their third-biggest win in Asian Games history.

Their biggest victory came at the 1982 Asian Games in New Delhi, when India defeated Hong Kong 22-0. Their second-largest win came at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, where they beat Kazakhstan 21-0.

India entered the final quarter against Uzbekistan with a 16-0 lead and appeared capable of challenging the 22-goal record. However, their scoring rate slowed during the final 15 minutes, with India adding only three more goals.

They eventually finished with 19 goals, but the emphatic victory gave Salima Tete’s side a dominant start to their Asian Games campaign.
