Israel Slams Navi Pillay’s Nobel Peace Prize, Invokes Nazi Propagandist Goebbels

Israel on Friday criticised the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to jurist Navi Pillay, accusing the decision of legitimising “anti-Israel hatred”. The Israeli Foreign Ministry also invoked Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels in its sharp response.

Pillay headed the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, an investigative body independent of the United Nations’ official positions. Last year, the commission concluded that Israel was committing “genocide” in Gaza, a finding that Israel has strongly rejected.

“Now that the Nobel commission has rewarded the biggest lie of the 21st century, Joseph Goebbels is certainly applauding from hell,” the Israeli Foreign Ministry wrote in a post on X.

The remarks reflect Israel’s strong opposition to the commission’s findings and the decision to honour Pillay, whose work has drawn criticism from Israeli officials over its assessment of the Gaza conflict.
