Belarusian-born dentist could inherit up to $100 million from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate: What we know

Dr Karyna Shuliak, a Belarusian-born American dentist who until recently practiced in Brooklyn, has come under renewed scrutiny after reports detailed her close relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and her potential claim to a significant portion of his estate.

According to reports, Shuliak was considered Epstein’s longtime girlfriend and was the last person he reportedly called before his death by suicide in 2019. While she benefited extensively from his financial support, she has not been accused of any wrongdoing or identified as either a victim or a co-conspirator in the criminal investigations surrounding Epstein.

Shuliak moved to New York from Belarus in 2010 on a student visa after studying dentistry in Minsk. She met Epstein in 2011, and he allegedly funded her lifestyle with luxury trips, gifts and educational support. After Columbia University’s dental school initially rejected her application, Epstein reportedly used his influence and financial backing to help secure her admission, paying her tuition until she graduated in 2015.

Reports also claim that when her visa expired, Epstein arranged a marriage between Shuliak and one of his female assistants to help her obtain permanent US residency. She became a US citizen in 2018, and the marriage ended in divorce the following year. The former spouse later alleged she had been pressured into the arrangement.

Over time, Shuliak reportedly took on a key role managing aspects of Epstein’s personal affairs, including overseeing properties and staff. Epstein is also said to have transferred nearly $1 million to her over the years and provided financial support to her family in Belarus.

Before his death, Epstein reportedly amended his will, leaving Shuliak a substantial share of his estate, including a 33-carat diamond ring reportedly given “in contemplation of marriage.” While the exact amount she may ultimately receive remains uncertain, estimates suggest his estate—valued between $120 million and $200 million after settlements—could leave her with an inheritance worth as much as $100 million.
