Bihar CM announcement LIVE: Will Samrat Choudhary succeed Nitish Kumar? NDA meets today to decide leader
All eyes are on Samrat Choudhary and Nishant Kumar as Bihar prepares to name its next chief minister today.
The decision is expected after an NDA meeting at 4 pm in the Central Hall of the Bihar Legislative Assembly in Patna, following a BJP Legislature Party meeting earlier in the day. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is likely to resign after chairing his final cabinet meeting, bringing an end to a tenure spanning nearly two decades.
Senior BJP leader Shivraj Singh Chouhan is set to attend as the party’s central observer, while names such as Nityanand Rai and Renu Devi are also being discussed alongside Choudhary.
Nitish Kumar, who recently took oath as a Rajya Sabha MP, is expected to remain an influential figure in state politics. Sanjay Kumar Jha said the incoming government would continue under Nitish’s guidance, even if he steps down from the top post.
The oath-taking ceremony for the new chief minister is likely to be held on April 15.
