Uttarakhand authorities have urged pilgrims undertaking the Char Dham Yatra to exercise caution and plan travel carefully as adverse weather conditions are expected across the hill state over the next two days.
The advisory follows an orange alert issued by the India Meteorological Department for May 12 and 13, warning of rainfall and unstable weather in several parts of Uttarakhand, particularly in the higher-altitude regions.
Taking note of the forecast, Garhwal Divisional Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey appealed to devotees and tourists to closely monitor weather updates before and during their journey.
He advised pilgrims to collect the latest weather information and plan their travel with extra care, especially given the challenging terrain and weather sensitivity of the pilgrimage routes.
Pandey also urged travellers to strictly follow instructions issued by district administrations and local authorities during the yatra.
He said all concerned government departments have been directed to make the necessary preparations and ensure adequate arrangements for pilgrims to facilitate safe travel during the period of expected adverse weather.
