Christopher Nolan, Matt Damon and Tom Holland to attend Mumbai premiere of The Odyssey
Oscar-winning filmmaker Christopher Nolan is set to visit India for the first-ever Indian premiere of one of his films, as Mumbai has been chosen as a key stop on the global promotional tour for his upcoming epic, The Odyssey.
Universal Pictures International announced that Mumbai will host a premiere of the film alongside London, Paris and New York. Nolan is expected to attend the event with producer Emma Thomas and cast members Matt Damon and Tom Holland, marking a landmark moment for both the filmmaker and Indian cinema audiences.
The premiere will take place at the PVR Icon IMAX theatre at Phoenix Palladium Mall in Mumbai, although the official date is yet to be revealed.
Adapted from Homer’s ancient Greek classic, The Odyssey stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, the King of Ithaca, whose perilous journey home after the Trojan War forms the heart of the story. The film also features Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, Charlize Theron and Samantha Morton.
Written and directed by Nolan, the film was produced under the Syncopy banner by Nolan and Emma Thomas. According to Damon, the project ranks among the most demanding productions of his career, with Nolan once again relying heavily on practical effects and real-world locations rather than CGI-heavy filmmaking.
The Odyssey also makes history as the first feature film shot entirely using IMAX cameras. The highly anticipated epic is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on July 17.
