Christopher Nolan’s much-awaited epic The Odyssey has reportedly cleared the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in India without a single cut, receiving an ‘A’ certificate ahead of its theatrical release on July 17.

According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the CBFC did not ask for any modifications to the film, meaning Indian audiences will get to watch the same version released internationally, provided the studio has not made any voluntary edits for the Indian market.

The censor certificate was reportedly issued on July 9, with the film’s runtime listed at 172 minutes and 33 seconds (2 hours, 52 minutes and 33 seconds). The ‘A’ certification restricts the film to viewers aged 18 and above.

Nolan, Tom Holland and Matt Damon attend Mumbai premiere

Director Christopher Nolan, along with stars Tom Holland and Matt Damon, attended the film’s world premiere in Mumbai on Friday and interacted with the audience after the screening.

Addressing moviegoers, Nolan said he was delighted to launch one of his films in India for the first time.

“This is not the first time I am in Mumbai, but it is the first time we have the chance to launch a film here. You are among the first audiences in the world to see this film,” he said before asking the crowd if they enjoyed it.

He also jokingly asked the audience, “Who is better? Matt or Tom?” drawing loud cheers and laughter.

Calling Indian moviegoers among the world’s most enthusiastic and knowledgeable audiences, Nolan said it had long been his wish to premiere one of his films in the country. He also recalled filming in both Jodhpur and Mumbai during previous projects.
