CJP claims Delhi Police parked damaged car outside Jantar Mantar protest site

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Wednesday alleged that Delhi Police placed a “totally damaged car” outside its protest site at Jantar Mantar, questioning the purpose behind the move and urging supporters to document the vehicle’s condition.

In a post on X, the party shared a video of the damaged car and claimed it had been brought to the site by the police.

“Why have you placed this car here?” the party asked, adding, “Everyone should remember this car has been brought here in this condition—important to record before they can blame it on peaceful protesters.”

Delhi Police did not immediately respond to the allegation.

CJP alleges internet shutdown

The party also claimed that internet services around Jantar Mantar and parts of central Delhi were suspended as tensions escalated between protesters and security personnel.

CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke questioned whether the government was preparing for another crackdown and appealed to police and paramilitary personnel not to use force against demonstrators.

Protest enters another phase

The sit-in at Jantar Mantar continued after the July 20 ‘Sansad Chalo’ march, with heavy security remaining in place. The CJP has been protesting since June 20, demanding accountability over alleged examination irregularities, reforms in the education system, the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and compensation for families of students who allegedly died by suicide following the paper leak controversy.

Wangchuk’s condition

Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike since June 28, said he would end his fast only if the Centre assured that no punitive action or FIRs would be filed against students and protesters involved in the agitation. He is currently undergoing treatment at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police said five personnel, including two ACPs, an inspector, a head constable and a constable, were injured during clashes near Jantar Mantar after some protesters allegedly turned violent, pelted stones and chased security personnel.
