Delhi IGI Airport, Schools Receive Hoax Bomb Threat Emails; Probe Underway

5

The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in Delhi received a bomb threat email early Sunday, prompting a police probe. Authorities later confirmed the threat was “non-specific” and that airport operations remained unaffected.

Several schools in the capital, including CRPF Public School in Dwarka and a Sarvodaya Vidyalaya near Qutub Minar, also received similar emails around the same time. Police, fire services, and bomb disposal units were deployed, but no suspicious items were found. The threats were declared hoaxes.

Delhi has witnessed a surge of such bomb threat emails in recent months, all of which have turned out to be false alarms.

On the same day, a private airline operating from Jammu airport reported receiving a similar email. A full anti-sabotage drill was carried out by CISF and police, but nothing suspicious was recovered. Officials confirmed that the email was also a hoax, and an FIR has been lodged to trace the sender.
