Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat Day 1 Box Office: Harshvardhan Rane’s Romantic Drama Opens at ₹8.50 Crore, Beats Dhadak 2

While most trade insiders expected Thamma, the Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna-led horror comedy, to dominate the Diwali 2025 box office, the romantic drama Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat pulled off a notable opening on release day. The Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa-starrer earned a solid ₹8.50 crore net domestically on Tuesday, according to Sacnilk.

Box Office Performance

Initial trade reports had hinted at a double-digit opening (₹10+ crore) for the film, particularly from tier-2 cities. While it fell slightly short of that mark, the ₹8.50 crore start is impressive for a romantic drama with no major star power and screens shared with Thamma nationwide.

The film now ranks among the biggest openings for a romantic drama in 2025, trailing only Saiyaara’s ₹20.50 crore debut. It has comfortably outperformed Dhadak 2 (₹4 crore) and Metro In Dino (₹3 crore).

About the Film

Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, written and directed by Milap Zaveri, stars Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa in lead roles, with Shaad Randhawa, Sachin Khedekar, and Ananth Narayan Mahadevan in supporting roles. Originally titled Deewaniyat, the film was rebranded to its current title in May 2025.

The promotions were unique, with Harshvardhan Rane personally selling tickets at theatres in Mumbai, pasting stickers, and distributing bills to encourage audiences to watch the film in cinemas — a hands-on campaign that seems to have paid off.

Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat may not have been the frontrunner for Diwali, but its strong debut proves that content and innovative promotions can make a significant impact at the box office.
