‘Every misadventure will be met with an unimaginable response’: Rajnath Singh’s warning to Pakistan on Kargil Vijay Diwas

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday issued a stern warning to Pakistan, saying every “misadventure” by the neighbouring country would be met with a response “beyond their imagination” as India marked Kargil Vijay Diwas.

Addressing a gathering in Dras, Singh reiterated that India would hold no dialogue with Pakistan except on Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), reaffirming the Centre’s long-standing position.

“There will be no talks with Pakistan other than on PoK, a part of India that has been illegally occupied,” he said.

Drawing a sharp contrast between the two countries, Singh remarked that while India is building data centres, Pakistan is creating “radical centres.”

Referring to Operation Sindoor, the defence minister said the operation had sent a clear message about the consequences of supporting terrorism.

“Operation Sindoor showed what will be the fate of those who indulge in terrorism,” he said.

Paying tribute to the soldiers who fought in the 1999 Kargil War, Singh said India’s armed forces have always possessed the capability to defend the nation, but political leadership in the past lacked the resolve to fully empower them.

“It is not that our armed forces lacked capability earlier. They were powerful then as well. What was missing was political will. I assure you there is no shortage of political will in the present government, and there never will be,” he said.

He added that the current government has given the armed forces the freedom to take decisive action whenever India’s security is threatened.

Recalling Kargil war hero Captain Vikram Batra’s iconic slogan, “Yeh Dil Maange More,” Singh said it symbolises the courage and determination of Indian soldiers.

“The whole world, and especially our neighbour, should understand the spirit of our soldiers,” he said.
