‘I killed Kruthika, say we’re just friends’: Chilling chats surface in doctor murder
In the sensational murder of Kruthika Reddy, investigators have uncovered chilling messages allegedly sent by her husband Mahendra Reddy, suggesting attempts to mislead authorities and destroy evidence after the crime.
Police suspect Kruthika was killed through a fatal overdose of Propofol, allegedly administered by the accused using his medical knowledge to make the death appear natural.
Messages point to cover-up
Digital evidence recovered from phones and financial apps indicates a planned effort to obstruct the probe. In one message, Mahendra allegedly told his girlfriend not to contact him and to describe their relationship as “just friends” if questioned by police—raising concerns of witness tampering.
Confession-like note recovered
Another message retrieved during the investigation appears to contain an admission of guilt, with the accused allegedly stating he had killed Kruthika and would face jail, describing himself as someone who could “never be happy.”
Massive digital trail examined
Forensic teams have analysed over 10.34 lakh digital files, including hundreds of chat records from payment platforms, along with several deleted messages that were later recovered. Investigators are using this data to trace movements, communication patterns and financial links.
Bail plea rejected
A sessions court has denied bail to the accused, citing the gravity of the allegations and the strength of the evidence gathered so far.
Murder disguised as treatment
Mahendra Reddy, also a doctor, was arrested for allegedly killing his wife—who worked at Victoria Hospital—by administering the anaesthetic under the guise of treatment. Kruthika collapsed at her father’s home in Marathahalli and was declared dead at a nearby hospital.
Initially treated as an unnatural death, the case was later reclassified as murder after forensic reports confirmed the presence of Propofol in multiple organs.
Background under scrutiny
Police are also examining the accused’s family background, with prior cases involving his siblings now under the scanner. Kruthika’s family has alleged that these details were concealed at the time of marriage.
