India defeat England by 7 runs in Mumbai to book T20 World Cup final berth

Arshdeep Singh removed Will Jacks as England began their chase after India posted a massive total in the second semifinal of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday.

Earlier, a blistering 42-ball 89 from Sanju Samson powered India national cricket team to 253/7 in 20 overs after England skipper Harry Brook won the toss and chose to bowl against the side led by Suryakumar Yadav.

While England cricket team cruised into the semifinals, India had to fight harder, sealing their spot after a virtual knockout clash against the West Indies cricket team.

India’s opening combination has looked increasingly settled since Samson’s inclusion. The left-right pairing at the top has forced opposition teams to constantly adjust their tactics. However, India’s spin attack in the middle overs has been slightly off rhythm, something the hosts would hope to correct at Wankhede.

England, meanwhile, had a mixed group-stage campaign but transformed into a formidable side during the Super 8 phase, remaining unbeaten throughout. Heading into the semifinal, they will aim to maintain that momentum. One concern for England, though, has been the form of Jos Buttler, and the team will be hoping their star batter delivers on the big stage.
