Kangana Ranaut calls ‘westernised’ Hindu women ‘generation gutter’ in fresh Instagram post

Actor-politician Kangana Ranaut has sparked fresh controversy after criticising what she described as a section of “westernised” young Hindu women in a strongly worded Instagram Story, days after her remarks on Gen Z protest reels triggered a social media debate.

In the post shared on Monday, Kangana claimed many young women aspire to the lifestyle of independent career women without, in her view, earning that independence. She contrasted them with women who are financially self-reliant, saying true independence comes with accountability, bold choices and personal responsibility.

Referring to what she called a new generation of “westernised Indian women,” Kangana labelled them “generation gutter.” She alleged that some flaunt lifestyles involving drugs, alcohol and casual relationships while remaining financially dependent on their parents, adding that independence must be earned rather than demanded.

Ending her post with what she called a “gentle reminder,” Kangana said that living independently without accountability results in a “distorted” life.

The remarks come shortly after Kangana criticised viral reels from the NEET paper leak protests, saying the videos left her needing “healing” and a “digital detox.” Those comments had also drawn widespread reactions online.

On the professional front, Kangana was last seen in Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, directed by Manoj Tapadia. The film is based on the true story of the nurses and hospital staff at Mumbai’s Cama Hospital who protected patients during the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
