Nifty, Sensex trades near day’s high as Infosys, Airtel rise; Groww rises over 5%

Indian equity markets were trading positive in a holiday-shortened week, extending Friday’s gains despite mixed global cues. Gains on Monday came amid buying in information technology (IT) and metal counters.

Around 11:42 AM, BSE Sensex was at 85,406.35, up 479.57 points or 0.56 per cent and NSE Nifty 50 quoted 26,133.60, up 166.75 points or 0.64 per cent.

Shriram Finance, Wipro India, and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles shares were top gainer in the NSE Nifty 50 index, while Tata Consumer Products, State Bank of India, and SBI Life Insurance shares fell the most

Sector-wise, Nifty IT and Metal were up over 1 per cent each, being the top gainer. This was followed by buying in the Nifty Media, Media and Consumer Durables indices.

In broader markets, both the Nifty MidCap and the Nifty SmallCap were up 0.8 per cent higher.

IPO corner

In the mainboard IPO segment, Gujarat Kidney IPO will open for public subscription. In the SME space, IPOs of EPW India, Dachepalli Publishers, Shyam Dhani Industries, and Sundrex Oil Company will open for bidding. Neptune Logitek will make its debut on the BSE SME platform.
