North Korea’s KCNA says Japan’s nuclear weapons ambitions should be curbed
North Korea has said Japan’s ambitions to possess nuclear weapons must be “thoroughly curbed,” state media KCNA reported on Sunday.
KCNA cited a commentary by a North Korean foreign policy official, claiming Japan has openly shown intent to acquire nuclear weapons by suggesting a review of its three non-nuclear principles.
The commentary said such remarks intensified after the United States approved South Korea’s request to build a nuclear-powered submarine. In October, US President Donald Trump said Washington had given Seoul the green light to develop a nuclear-powered submarine following his visit to South Korea for a trade summit with President Lee Jae Myung.
