Rhea Chakraborty on years of scrutiny after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death: ‘Bohot der tak shaq mein rahi hoon’

Actor Rhea Chakraborty opened up about the impact of the Sushant Singh Rajput case and her preference to play an “Innocent” on the second season of The Traitors.

Rhea’s life was dramatically altered following the death of her former boyfriend, actor Sushant Singh Rajput, in 2020. She and her brother, Showik Chakraborty, were arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in a drug-related case linked to the investigation.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) later filed a closure report in Sushant’s death case, clearing Rhea of allegations in the matter.

Appearing on The Traitors Season 2, Rhea was asked by host Karan Johar whether she would rather be an Innocent or a Traitor in the reality show. She chose Innocent, explaining that she had spent years living under suspicion.

“I want to be an innocent. Iss saal hi actually mujhe clean chit mila hai, iss saal hi logo ko pata chala hai ki main innocent hoon. Bahut der tak shaq mein rahi hoon toh woh itna pasand nahi hai ab mujhe. Kaafi saal kar liya hai maine,” Rhea said.

Rhea has previously spoken about the emotional toll of the ordeal, saying in interviews that it affected her mental health and left her dealing with PTSD.

About The Traitors Season 2

The reality show features two groups — Innocents and Traitors. While the Innocents attempt to identify and eliminate the hidden Traitors, the Traitors secretly work to eliminate the other contestants while keeping their identities concealed.

The second season features Aaditya Kulshreshth (Kullu), Abhishek Malhan (Fukraa Insaan), Ansh Chopra, Dalip Tahil, Harman Singha, Ikka Singh, Karan Singh Magic, Krystle D’Souza, Mallika Sherawat, Munawar Faruqui, Parul Gulati, Prish and Ranveer Brar.

Rida Tharana, Sahil Salathia, Shahneel Gill, Shalini Passi, Shweta Tiwari, Soundous Moufakir and Tanya Puri are also part of the season.

The Traitors Season 2 premiered on Prime Video in India on August 13, with new episodes scheduled to release every Thursday.
