Sensex down 300 pts, Nifty below 2,500; SmallCap index rises over 1%
The Nifty50 and the Sensex erased gains from high as IT, FMCG, and bank shares weighed.
As of 11:00 AM, the Sensex fell 392.12 points or 0.54 per cent to 72,080.21 and the Nifty50 was down 91.20 points or 0.4 per cent at 22,429.25.
Bajaj Auto, Bharat Electronics (BEL), and Mahindra & Mahindra were the top gainers in the Nifty50.

In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap and the Nifty SmallCap rose 0.44 per cent and 1.04 per cent, respectively.
Sector-wise, Nifty Media and Nifty Auto rose the most, while Nifty PSU Bank declined the most.

HCL Technologies, ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company, RBL Bank, and Swaraj Engines will release their earnings today.
