Sensex, Nifty volatile; SMIDs in green; Meesho drops 5%, Senco surges 11%

Stock markets in India were lower for a third straight session on Wednesday. The BSE Sensex index was trading around 84,911, down 152 points or 0.18 per cent.

Similarly, the Nifty50 was at 26,134, lower by 45 points or 0.17 per cent. The index hit a low of 26,104 intraday.

Cipla, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, and Max Healthcare Institute fell the most in the Nifty 50 index. Titan Company, Jio Financial Services, and Wipro India were the top gainers.

The broader markets outperformed benchmark indices. The Nifty Midcap 150 and the Nifty Smallcap 250 were trading 0.33 per cent and 0.05 per cent higher, respectively.

Sector-wise, the Nifty Auto and the Nifty Media declined the most, while the Nifty Consumer Durables and Nifty IT led gains.
