The Trinamool Congress on Sunday alleged that Hemant Soren and MLA Kalpana Soren were denied permission to land their helicopter in Jhargram due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unscheduled stop during his campaign.

According to the party, the Jharkhand chief minister and his wife were kept waiting for hours and eventually had to return to Ranchi without completing their scheduled programme, as Modi extended his halt in Jhargram.

In a post on X, the TMC claimed that two elected leaders were “grounded” because the Prime Minister prolonged his visit for a roadside ‘jhalmuri’ stop and related engagements.

Earlier in the day, Modi had shared a video of himself stopping at a street vendor in Jhargram, describing it as a “Jhalmuri break” during a busy campaign schedule. In the clip, he is seen interacting with the vendor, buying the snack and paying for it, as crowds gathered and raised slogans.

The TMC accused the Prime Minister of showing disregard for Adivasi leaders and said the incident reflected his attitude toward political opponents.

West Bengal is set to vote in two phases on April 23 and April 29, with results scheduled to be announced on May 4.
