Trump Warns Iran Over Pickaxe Mountain Activity, Says Tehran Should ‘Not Get Cute’

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday warned Iran against activity at Pickaxe Mountain, saying the United States could launch a major strike on the fortified site.

“We notice there’s a little activity at Pickaxe. I would advise Iran not to get cute because we will have to hit them very hard,” Trump said while speaking at the midterm Republican convention.

Located near Iran’s heavily damaged Natanz uranium enrichment facility, Pickaxe Mountain is a fortified underground site containing two deeply buried tunnel complexes.

Trump has threatened to strike the site since at least mid-July, as tensions between Washington and Tehran remain high.

The surge in oil and gas prices triggered by the US-Israeli war on Iran, which began in February, has also emerged as a major political issue for Trump and Republicans ahead of the US midterm elections in November.
