Actor-filmmaker Vignesh Shivan had the audience in splits at the Chennai pre-release event of Yash-starrer Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups as he poked fun at his own recent box-office setback.

Recalling a meeting with Kiara Advani years ago, Vignesh joked that the actor was “lucky” to have turned down the script that eventually became Love Insurance Kompany.

“Before Kabir Singh, I met Kiara to narrate a story. I made that film now. It’s called Love Insurance Kompany. You are lucky. You didn’t do it,” Vignesh said, prompting laughter from Kiara and the audience.

Kiara, who was seated among the guests, appeared to remember the meeting and laughed along with the filmmaker.

Vignesh praises Yash

Vignesh also praised Yash, calling the Kannada star an inspiration and an icon he has long admired.

“In life, there are certain people who become role models for us, icons. We look up to some people, get inspired and want to do a lot of things. Yash sir is one such icon,” he said.

Vignesh also spoke about working on several songs for Toxic, saying the assignments gave him an opportunity to spend more time with Yash.

About Love Insurance Kompany

Love Insurance Kompany, starring Pradeep Ranganathan and Krithi Shetty, was released in April 2026. The sci-fi romantic comedy reportedly struggled at the box office despite being made on a budget of around ₹90 crore.

The film, set in 2040, revolves around a high-tech dating platform that claims to determine the compatibility of couples. While it received a better response from some viewers after its OTT release, its theatrical run was underwhelming.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups marks Yash’s return to the big screen after a four-year gap. The film also stars Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi and Rukmini Vasanth.
