Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday praised the Border Security Force (BSF) during his visit to the Sanchu Post in Rajasthan’s Bikaner, reaffirming the Centre’s goal of achieving “zero infiltration” and announcing plans to strengthen border security measures, including the rollout of anti-drone systems.

Shah, who also virtually inaugurated women’s barracks, lauded BSF personnel for carrying out their duties in extreme conditions, saying they had served the nation without regard for harsh weather, difficult terrain or severe temperatures.

Referring to the Narendra Modi government’s approach to terrorism, Shah said the Centre follows a policy of delivering a “befitting reply” to any such threats and commended BSF personnel for their role during Operation Sindoor. He said the force stood firm on the frontlines and responded strongly to Pakistan wherever required.

The home minister said border security rests on a “quadrangular security grid” involving the BSF, the armed forces, border residents and local administration, describing it as a shared territorial responsibility rather than an isolated task. He said this framework would be key to achieving the government’s “zero infiltration” objective along both the Pakistan and Bangladesh borders.

Shah also urged personnel to remain alert to what he described as “unnatural demographic change” in villages near border areas.

Addressing concerns over cross-border drone activity, he announced that anti-drone systems would begin to be installed within the next six months. He stressed the need not only to intercept drones but also to identify those receiving them and using smuggled material for anti-national activities, while calling for vigilance against both external and internal threats.
