India slams China over reported support to Pakistan during Operation Sindoor

India on Tuesday sharply criticised China over reports that Beijing extended technical support to Pakistan during Operation Sindoor, saying countries shielding terror infrastructure must consider the impact on their global credibility.

Speaking at the weekly media briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the international community was closely observing how major powers position themselves on terrorism-related issues.

“We have seen reports that corroborate what was known earlier. Nations that consider themselves responsible should reflect on whether supporting attempts to protect terrorist infrastructure affects their reputation and standing,” Jaiswal said, responding to questions on Chinese media reports.

He reiterated that Operation Sindoor was launched as a focused counter-terror response following the April 22, 2025, attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 civilians.

“Operation Sindoor was a precise, targeted and calibrated response to the terrorist attacks in Pahalgam, aimed at destroying state-sponsored terrorist infrastructure operating out of Pakistan and at its behest,” Jaiswal said.

India recently marked the first anniversary of the operation on May 7. The multi-domain strike campaign lasted 88 hours and targeted terror infrastructure across the border.

China confirms technical support to Pakistan

China last week acknowledged for the first time that it had provided on-site technical assistance to Pakistan during the four-day conflict with India that followed Operation Sindoor.

According to reports in Chinese state media, Zhang Heng of the Aviation Industry Corporation of China’s Chengdu Aircraft Design and Research Institute had offered technical support to Pakistan during the conflict.

The revelation surfaced in an interview aired by China’s state broadcaster CCTV and later reported by the South China Morning Post.

Pakistan’s air force operates Chinese-made J-10CE fighter jets manufactured by a subsidiary of AVIC.
