‘Netanyahu frightened Trump’: Iran security chief dismisses alleged plot to assassinate Barron Trump

Iran’s security chief Mohsen Rezaei has dismissed reports of an alleged Iranian plot to assassinate US President Donald Trump’s son, Barron Trump, calling them fabricated claims spread by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to frighten Trump and influence his decision-making.

In an interview with Lebanon-based Al Manar TV, Rezaei accused Netanyahu of using false information to unsettle the US president. He claimed Trump had been so alarmed by the reports that his movements were altered during his recent trip to Türkiye.

“These are major lies that Netanyahu managed to trick Trump with,” Rezaei said, according to Iranian state news agency IRIB.

‘Plot to Kill Barron Trump’

Iranian state television recently aired a three-minute video discussing an alleged plot against Barron Trump, 20, claiming that he was being monitored and that a $10 million bounty had been placed on his killing.

Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, rejected the allegations as “lies that Netanyahu fabricates”. At the same time, he claimed that if Iran ever decided to carry out an assassination, “nothing would prevent” it from doing so.

Rezaei also issued a threat against Netanyahu, saying Iran would “send Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of the Zionist regime, to hell”. He further claimed that Netanyahu’s actions had brought the Israeli government’s “end” closer.

The Iranian official warned of a severe confrontation with the US if the blockade of Iran continued, while saying that any renewed conflict with Israel would enter a different phase.

US Secret Service Aware Of Video

The US Secret Service said Tuesday that it was aware of the Iranian state television broadcast discussing a potential plot to assassinate Barron Trump.

Reuters had earlier reported that the US received several warnings from Israel over the past year about an alleged Iranian intention to assassinate Trump, according to US officials.

Trump ‘No. 1 On Iran’s Kill List’?

Rezaei also referred to an earlier incident in which Trump switched from Air Force One to a smaller military aircraft while returning from the NATO summit in Ankara, Türkiye.

He claimed Trump was frightened after Netanyahu allegedly told him that Iran was planning to assassinate him.

Trump has previously described himself as “number one on the kill list for Iran.”
