Air India Extends Saudi Arabia Flight Cancellations Until October 24 Amid Regional Tensions

Air India and Air India Express have extended the suspension of flights to and from three major Saudi Arabian cities until October 24, 2026, amid continuing security concerns in West Asia.

The airlines have temporarily suspended services to and from Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam as the regional situation remains uncertain. The decision follows attacks on Saudi Arabian infrastructure, including Riyadh airport, earlier this month. Airlines are continuing to assess developments before resuming normal operations.

Air India Offers Refunds, Complimentary Date Changes

Air India and Air India Express have announced relief measures for affected passengers.

Passengers holding confirmed bookings issued on or before October 15, with travel dates between October 9 and October 25, are eligible for a one-time complimentary date change. The revised journey must take place by November 10, subject to the airlines’ applicable conditions.

Passengers who do not wish to travel can opt for a full refund if their flights have been cancelled. Eligible travellers may also be able to rebook from an alternative Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) airport served by their respective airline, subject to availability.

The airlines have advised affected customers to contact their customer service centres or visit booking offices in India and Gulf countries for assistance with refunds and alternative travel arrangements.

Other Airlines Also Extend Saudi Flight Cancellations

Air India is not the only carrier affected by the disruption. Several international airlines have also cancelled or suspended services to Saudi Arabia following the attacks and subsequent aviation restrictions.

According to a Reuters report published on October 20, IndiGo had suspended flights to and from Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Madinah until October 24. Akasa Air had extended its suspension of Riyadh services until October 27, while its Jeddah flights were suspended through October 21. Other international carriers have announced separate timelines for their affected routes. />

Passengers Advised To Check Flight Status

Travellers planning to fly to or from Saudi Arabia have been advised to check the latest updates from their airlines before leaving for the airport. Flight schedules and resumption dates may change depending on the security situation and regulatory clearances.

Air India has said it is closely monitoring developments and assessing conditions to ensure that operations can resume safely.

Passengers should verify their booking status through official airline channels and confirm refund or rescheduling eligibility before making alternative travel arrangements.
