Amid reports of an apparent resolution by the Congress high command to Karnataka’s leadership tussle, speculation is mounting over a possible transition from Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, with attention shifting to internal negotiations over posts and power-sharing within the state unit.
According to sources, while no official confirmation has been made, Siddaramaiah is said to be pushing to retain influence in the evolving arrangement. His close aide Satish Jarkiholi is reportedly emerging as a leading contender for the post of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president.
At the same time, there is speculation that Siddaramaiah’s son, Dr Yathindra, could be accommodated in a reshuffled cabinet if a new government formation led by Shivakumar goes ahead.
The developments come amid continued political discussions within the Congress leadership over balancing organisational control and administrative authority in Karnataka, where factional dynamics between the two senior leaders have long been closely watched.
