CJP’s Saurav Das Files ₹2 Crore Suit Against Abhijit Iyer Mitra Over Home Address Disclosure
Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) spokesperson Saurav Das has approached the Delhi High Court with a ₹2 crore defamation and privacy suit against political commentator Abhijit Iyer Mitra and several media organisations, alleging that they publicly disclosed his residential address and other personal information.
Das has named a legal news portal, a media platform, as well as social media accounts linked to another portal and a newspaper as defendants.
In his petition, Das said he has been living in a rented property in Greater Kailash since early 2025. He alleged that representatives of a media platform entered the premises without permission, recorded its interiors and later posted the footage on X on August 5.
According to the suit, the video received more than 2.1 million views and was republished on August 10.
Das further alleged that Mitra disclosed details of his residence during a programme hosted by the news portal, including the identity of a neighbour, while incorrectly claiming that the monthly rent was around ₹7 lakh.
He alleged that Mitra subsequently published several social media posts containing what Das described as his personal information.
Apart from seeking ₹2 crore in damages, Das has sought an injunction preventing the defendants from publishing or circulating similar material and directions to remove the videos already posted online.
The suit argues that repeated disclosure of his personal details, particularly given his history of receiving violent threats, increases the risk of hostile individuals locating his home and puts him and his family at risk of intimidation, harassment and physical violence.
