G7 Foreign Ministers Call On Iran To Stop Arming, Supporting Houthis

G7 foreign ministers on Monday called on Iran to end its arming and support of the Houthis in Yemen, warning that the group’s continued attacks risked disrupting international trade and worsening global instability.

Foreign ministers from Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States issued the statement after meeting on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

“We condemn in the strongest terms the unacceptable continued strikes carried out by the Houthis in Yemen and against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” the ministers said.

The G7 also urged the Houthis to immediately halt all military operations, threats and attacks targeting civilian shipping and return to the political process in good faith.

The ministers described Iran’s support for the Houthis as part of a dangerous pattern of escalation, saying it posed risks to international trade and broader global stability.
