Iran Reportedly Plotting ‘October 7-Style’ Coordinated Multi-Front Attack On Israel

Iran is reportedly preparing a coordinated, multi-front offensive against Israel involving groups across the region, in a strategy that could resemble the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack, The Jerusalem Post reported, citing intelligence sources.

The October 7 assault, led by Hamas from Gaza, killed more than 1,200 people in Israel. Militants breached the Gaza-Israel border by land, air and sea, targeting military bases, communities and the Nova music festival.

According to the report, Tehran’s latest strategy aims to bring together multiple elements of its regional network in a simultaneous campaign against Israel. The plan could involve Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas in Gaza, the Houthis in Yemen and pro-Iranian militias in Iraq operating across several fronts at the same time.

Iran Seeks To Rebuild ‘Axis Of Resistance’

Arab media reports cited by The Jerusalem Post suggest that Iran is working to restore coordination among its regional allies and strengthen what is commonly known as the “Axis of Resistance” — an informal Iran-led network of state and non-state actors opposed to Israel, the United States and their regional partners.

The reported shift in Hamas’ leadership could also play a role. Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya is believed to have close ties with Tehran. Hamas and Hezbollah have also reportedly increased coordination in recent weeks with Iranian support, according to an assessment by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) cited by the newspaper.

Although Iran has increasingly featured in the broader regional conflict, Israel continues to conduct military operations in Lebanon. Israel launched its war in Gaza following the October 7 attack, while a ceasefire was reached in October 2025. The truce has since faced repeated violations, with Israeli forces continuing to maintain a significant presence in parts of Gaza.

How The Plan Could Echo October 7

The reported similarities between the alleged Iranian strategy and the October 7 attack are partly linked to Hamas documents that Israeli forces said they seized in Gaza after the assault.

According to The Jerusalem Post, the documents allegedly showed that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar sought to broaden the conflict by bringing additional regional fronts into the confrontation.

One planning document reportedly called for Hamas to “connect and prepare the external fronts”, referring to Lebanon, Syria and Sinai. However, US and Israeli assessments have suggested that Iran and Hezbollah were not given advance knowledge of all the details or the exact timing of the October 7 operation.

The latest reports indicate that Tehran may now be seeking to overcome that lack of coordination by synchronising multiple allied groups and creating simultaneous pressure on Israel from several directions.
