Delhi Under Red Alert As Heavy Rain Lashes Capital; Noida, Ghaziabad Face Orange Alert

Delhi and adjoining areas witnessed a spell of rain on Friday afternoon as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) upgraded the weather warning for the national capital from yellow to red, forecasting more rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms.

The IMD also issued an orange alert for Noida and Ghaziabad in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh, according to its nowcast issued around 3:30 pm.

Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 25.5°C on Friday, 0.1 degrees above normal, based on station-wise data from Palam. Lodhi Road recorded a minimum of 27.6°C, which was 2.6 degrees above normal.

At the Ridge, the minimum temperature stood at 23.7°C, 0.5 degrees below normal, while Ayanagar recorded 27°C, 2.3 degrees above normal.

The maximum temperature in Delhi was expected to remain around 32°C, while relative humidity stood at 75% during the morning.
